I've rotated the boys toys for a couple of years, but even with the toy rotations, they still had too many! I would "sift" through their toys about every 6 months or so to get rid of the "junk" toys - like Happy Meal toys and stuff, but we've never quite gone through such a huge reduction before. We've had such great results that I think we'll have to do this a little more often - like after birthday and Christmas too! :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17634178094963514937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139040397383725747.post-49763083912722775122014-01-27T08:22:39.903-07:002014-01-27T08:22:39.903-07:00We do this less now that the kids are older and ju...We do this less now that the kids are older and just have less of the little preschool toys, but my kids were used to a regular purge about twice a year.

Another thing I did when all three were toddlers was box up some toys and store them in the closet for rainy days, long school breaks, etc. Then I'd bring it out and they acted like they were new!Gina @ MoneywiseMomshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14747172627710808360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139040397383725747.post-82103829477453279392014-01-23T19:57:43.481-07:002014-01-23T19:57:43.481-07:00Thanks Kendwy! I totally understand the desire to go out and buy a bunch of stuff after you first move it. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17634178094963514937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139040397383725747.post-29710727054133184562014-01-23T17:36:22.855-07:002014-01-23T17:36:22.855-07:00I loved this post and I LOVED the title! In an effort to teach our children the same lesson you are trying to teach Mac, we have them donate one of their Christmas gifts to another child. I always struggle with where to draw the line with my own things. We just bought a house and there is so much that I want, but can't have yet. I often think back of where I used to be and where I am today. I am so blessed!!! We have so much, yet act like we have so little.
Thanks again for this post. It further emphasized on the same feelings I've been having.Kendwy Valdezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00402923699890922226noreply@blogger.com
